The European Commission gathers data about all fishing vessels registered inside the European Union. These data are used to follow up on the regulations for the allowed catches. The fleet register gathers all the data reported by the member states. 

Mr. Geens was responsible for rewriting the existing application in Java. He did the analysis for the new system, and implemented part of the system. He also assisted in the deployment of the application. 

Mr. Geens was also responsible for coaching the junior team members.
