Iggyland BVBA was founded by Guy Geens in 2007. Since then, we provide ICT consulting services to large companies, focusing on Java technology.
The people
Guy Geens
Guy Geens was born in Antwerpen, Belgium in 1972. He now lives in Gent with his family.
He graduated in 1995 at the University of Gent as a civil engineer (majoring in Physics). Next, he worked at the same university for 2 more years as a researcher.
In 1997, he joined Cap Gemini as an ICT consultant. In 1999, he was assigned to the newly formed Authorized Java Center1 within the company. He quickly became one of the leading Java experts.
Guy survived the merger of Cap Gemini and Ernst and Young consulting (forming "Cap Gemini Ernst and Young") and stayed with the company as it renamed itself to Capgemini.
In 2006, Guy left the company in order to join PL-2. After a few months, he left that company and founded Iggyland.
Qualifications
Guy has successfully completed both the Java Certified Programmer and Java Certified Developer exams (in 2000 and 2003 respectively). Both certifications have since then expired as Guy didn't have the time to redo the exams.
Guy has worked with a large variety ofdevelopment tools and methodologies, including:
- IBM WebSphere,
- BEA Weblogic,
- JBoss,
- JSP/Struts,
- Hibernate,
- Spring,
- RUP,
- Oracle DB,
- DB2,
- Rational Rose.
1Back then, SUN Microsystems wanted to organize its partners in "Authorized Java Centers". After a while, the program was abandoned along with the name.
